Abstract

This publication explores pathways toward more inclusive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education through gender-responsive innovations implemented across four African universities. The study documents institutional practices, curriculum adaptations, and support structures designed to reduce gender-based barriers to STEM participation and retention. Case studies from the four participating universities highlight strategies that have demonstrated positive outcomes for women and gender-diverse students. The paper presents a framework for embedding gender responsiveness into STEM higher education policy and practice across the African context.
