Abstract
This study explores existing editorial practices among African journals operating in Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Mozambique. It investigates underlying factors influencing these practices and examines authors perspectives regarding journal credibility, visibility, and trustworthiness. While many researchers perceive publishing with Northern journals as more prestigious, African journals face barriers including limited quality assurance mechanisms, weak indexation, and perceptions of inferior standards. By understanding these challenges, the research aims to support the strengthening of editorial practices, enhance visibility, and improve trust in African scholarly publishing.
