Abstract
A quality improvement project in a UK hospital evaluated the effects of a structured handover protocol on postoperative patient outcomes. Implementation reduced communication errors by 32% (p = 0.01) and shortened ICU stays by 1.2 days on average. The protocol emphasizes standardized checklists and multidisciplinary teamwork.
