Discovering Growth Through My APHRC Internship Journey
Abstract
This blog reflects on the personal and professional growth experienced by Joshua Eliud Omondi during his internship at the African Population and Health Research Center. He describes how his academic background in anthropology led him to appreciate the value of culturally informed public health research and motivated him to join APHRC�s Emerging and Re?emerging Infectious Diseases Unit. Throughout the internship, he gained practical research skills by supporting multiple projects from tool development and data analysis to manuscript writing while engaging in writing and communication work. The author highlights the supportive and inclusive work environment at APHRC, the expansion of his quantitative and qualitative research skills, and how the experience has prepared him for a future career in global health research. He concludes with advice to future interns on being proactive, engaging with colleagues, and leveraging the internship as a platform for personal and professional development.
