Abstract

This methodological paper examines strategies for eliciting responses to sensitive survey questions on violence and sexual behaviour in humanitarian refugee settings across Ethiopia and Uganda. It draws on data collected as part of large-scale humanitarian violence against children and youth surveys, exploring how contextual, cultural, and logistical factors shape the quality and reliability of survey responses in refugee populations, and offering practical methodological guidance for researchers working in similar settings.
