This blog explores the challenges facing African universities and research institutions in securing and managing donor funding due to institutional bottlenecks in governance, financial systems, and grant compliance. It presents the Good Grant Practice Virtual Academy (GGP-VA) initiative as a continental effort to strengthen financial governance, grant compliance, and institutional readiness through training, self-assessments, and community of practice approaches designed to improve transparency, accountability, and sustainability.
