This article details a collaborative initiative by APHRC and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) to address gender inequity in STEM postgraduate education in East Africa. Based on a study across five countries, it identifies both supportive practices and systemic challenges such as sexual harassment and misaligned mentorship faced by women in STEM. The core outcome is the co-creation of a gender-lensed supervision and mentorship framework designed to foster inclusive academic environments and empower institutions to support women's leadership in research.
