Overcoming Epilepsy Challenges Through Research and Innovation

Abstract

This blog highlights the challenges faced by people with epilepsy in Nairobi's informal settlements, where limited access to diagnosis and care, stigma, and sociocultural beliefs impede quality treatment. It discusses the Epilepsy Pathway Innovation in Africa (EPInA) study, which used digital diagnostic tools, training of primary health workers, and advocacy to improve diagnosis, treatment adherence, and community understanding of epilepsy.
