Effect of Safe Water Delivery Plus Water and Sanitation Hygiene Behavior Change Communication on Diarrheal Disease Prevalence Among Children Under 5 Years in A Slum Setting in Nairobi, Kenya: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

Abstract

This study evaluated the combined effect of safe water delivery interventions and behavior change communication on diarrheal disease prevalence among children under five in Nairobi's informal settlements. Using a quasi-experimental design, the study found significant reductions in diarrheal episodes among households receiving treated water coupled with WASH-focused health education. The findings demonstrate the importance of integrating infrastructure improvements with sustained behavior change strategies to achieve meaningful health impacts in urban slums.
